Personal Profile:
In 1970 Chuck was in a car accident that left him as a paraplegic. As a Para, he looks at design and life a little differently. With his skills of 34 years in both Civil Engineering and Landscape Architecture he has the abilities to solve complex problems by blending principals of Universal Design, ADA Guidelines, and Program Access into all aspects of life and design that meets today’s social needs.
In 1973 he started working for the USDA Forest Service as a Civil Engineer Design Tech. In 1988 he became one of the first Accessibility Program Managers for the Agency. During that time he has developed extensive experience in doing assessment surveys and developing transition plans that meet today’s ADA requirements that are both legal and cost affective.
Chuck has been intimately involved with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) since enacted in 1990 and has worked very closely with the US Access Board over the years in developing new guidelines for outdoor recreation.
Today, he is known as a national expert of ADA law, Universal Design and Program Access for persons with disabilities.
